Exercise 1: Becoming (-vá/-vé)

Add -vá/-vé to each word. Remember assimilation!

Read each sentence aloud, then reveal the meaning.

  1. Hétfőtől péntekig reggel nyolctól délután négyig dolgozom. From Monday to Friday I work from eight in the morning until four in the afternoon.
  2. Fiatalon pincérként dolgoztam egy balatoni étteremben. When I was young I worked as a waiter in a restaurant at Lake Balaton.
  3. A hideg éjszaka után a tó vize jéggé fagyott. After the cold night the water of the lake froze into ice.
  4. Szilveszterkor éjfélkor mindenki koccint. On New Year's Eve, at midnight, everyone clinks glasses.
  5. A belépő személyenként kétezer forint, a gyerekeknek ingyenes. Entry is two thousand forints per person, free for children.
  6. Gyere velünk, nélküled nem megyünk el! Come with us, we're not going without you!
