Hungarian has nine accented vowels, and you will need them in the exercises. Here is how to type them on any computer or phone. You don't need to install anything.
On a phone
Press and hold the plain vowel. A small menu pops up with the accented versions. For ő and ű, look for the letter with two little strokes, not the two dots.
On a Mac
| To type | Press |
|---|---|
| á é í ó ú | Option + E, then the vowel |
| ö ü | Option + U, then the vowel |
| ő ű | Hold the O or U key and pick it from the menu, or add the Hungarian keyboard |
On Windows
Add the Hungarian keyboard in Settings → Time & language → Language. On the Hungarian layout the accented vowels have their own keys, and Z and Y swap places, so watch out for that.
Copy and paste
If you're in a hurry, copy them from here: á é í ó ö ő ú ü ű
The exercises on this site do not accept a plain vowel in place of an accented one. In Hungarian the accent changes the word: kor means "age", but kór means "disease". And örült means "was glad", while őrült means "mad".
