Colours work like any other adjective: no ending before a noun, and a plural -k after it: a piros alma (the red apple), Az almák pirosak. (The apples are red.) Hungarian has two words for red: piros is the everyday bright red, while vörös is a deeper red, used for red hair, red wine and the Red Sea. To ask about colour, say Milyen szÃnű? (What colour is it?)
